Do The Word Challenge

Friday, January 9, 2015

One thing that I forgot to mention in my last post was that I am also doing a "Do The Word Challenge" by Leslie Vernick.  Each month you pick a verse to meditate on, memorize and DO, so that by the end of 2015 you not only know more of God's word, but you are actually living it.  You are suppose to pick 12 bible passages that challenge you to change the way you feel, think, behave and/or relate to other people.  This challenge is based on Matthew 7:24, "Everyone who hears these words of mine AND puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." You are suppose to  write your monthly verse on a 3x5 card and practice through out the day what the verse is telling you.  Then each evening during the month you look at your verse and ask yourself: 1) How did I practice this today?, 2) What obstacles or challenges got in my way? and, 3) Ask God's help to do this verse.

The first verse that I am doing this year is Matthew 6:34, "Do not worry about tomorrow, tomorrow has enough worries of its own."  If you would like more information on this challenge you can ask me or check out Leslie Vernicks facebook page.

2015--Changes, NOT Resolutions, In The Making

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

I set out on January 1st with a resolution to start blogging more consistently. Well, here it is already January 7 and I have yet to post once.  So I've decided that starting out the new year with resolutions, for me, is starting out the the New Year already setting myself up for failure. SO this year I'm not making "resolutions". Instead, I've sat down and tried to pinpoint where my attitudes and mind sets don't line up with what God wants for me. This has allowed me to create a plan that I can use to make much needed changes in my life, changes that will allow me to concentrate on enjoying the journey instead of dreading the failure! Through this process I have set out to do the following things this year:
         1) Getting rid of false idols and putting in more time and trust in developing a deeper relationship with God.
          2) Be more consistent with blog posts.
          3) Build my fitness and health business by making more contacts this year to help people.
          4) Getting out of debt and becoming financially sound.
          5) Be more consistent in exercise and healthy eating.
          6) Clean and organize the house.

I will not beat myself up or stop altogether if I miss a time or two in meeting any of these goals. I've decided to celebrate the small victories that occur daily to keep me motivated to changing and to keep me moving in the right direction!

To help me start out the year focused on the right things, I am doing two things , 1) Doing a group bible study called, "The Lord's Table", with an awesome group of women. And 2) starting a Daniel Fast.  What is a Daniel Fast and how will this help me focus? A Daniel fast is a partial fast that is based on Daniel's diet in the book of Daniel in the Bible.  The purpose is to deny yourself of certain foods and turn your thoughts to God when you are tempted.  In turn you begin to rely on God more than food to "fill" you up. Some of the main foods you give up are meats, sugar and processed foods.  It really helps you to break the addiction to unhealthy foods and stop the struggle.  You eat tons of fruits and veggies and whole foods and feel so much better!  This is good because, after being on vacation for the holidays, I have once again become a sugar addict.  So begins the withdrawals! Ouch! The only processed foods that I will keep will be my breakfast of Shakeology because it is made from whole foods and gives me a completely nutritious breakfast choice.

The Lord's Table fits right in with the Daniel Fast.  The purpose of the study is coming to the realization that your focus has moved from God to food and exercise.  Therefore, making food and exercise an idol.  My focus should first be on God and the other things will then fall into place in my life.

I believe that in starting out the year doing these 2 studies that I will start the year out with the correct focus which will allow all my mindsets and attitudes that I am working on to fall perfectly in line.

What are your attitudes and mindsets that you feel God is trying to get you to change?
What steps will you be making to start the process (journey) of change in your life?
Join me on this new journey as I change my focus... I will try to keep you informed of my daily trials in this journey and how I am overcoming them or not.

First Official Blog Post!

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Ok, so I cannot believe how long it has taken me to post on this page, I'm almost embarrassed by the amount of time it has taken since the page was finished! Happy July to everyone! Because I won a contest at my Chiropractor's office last month I was treated to a lunch today at Jason's Deli, among other prizes. Just wanted to say thank you to Dr Dohrmann! We had a great conversation about how to motivate people to great health. We both still had lots of questions on how to spark that inner motivation in people. Unfortunately, one of the conclusions we came to is that people have to reach the bottom of a health crisis before they become desperate enough to seek change in their lifestyle. It's hard to move people out of the comfort zones they are in. Do any of you have any ideas on how to motivate people to healthy change? Have you ever motivated someone to change or been motivated by someone? Or does it just take hearing something over time and gradually accepting that it might be truth?
I also wanted everyone to know that mid month I will be starting some challenge groups. One will be a free "Steps to healthy living" group that will run for 2 weeks to help get you started on your healthy lifestyle journey. The second group will require a purchase from Beachbody  or becoming a coach and having me as your sponsor coach. The purchase can be either Shakeology and an exercise program to help kickstart your journey to success or it can be just shakeology or just an exercise program. If you Email me I can help you make a decision depending on what your needs are!
This months specials are: 1) The new 3 Day Cleanse Challenge Pack for $140, that is a $70 savings. 2) The New PIYO Challenge Pack with no shipping charges.  This program requires no weights, it's all body weight workouts using Pilates and yoga moves. The results have been amazing. And 3) The Spanish 21 Day Fix Challenge Pack for $140. I have done the eating part of this and it really will jump start a new beginning of weight loss and when combined with the exercise program you can expect some major body changes.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you! Also wanted to let you know that you should feel free to ask any questions that are bugging you about getting healthy! Promising more posts that will be interesting to you!
